Welcome! This site describes the OPEN Tactile initiative, a project aimed to help adding the sense of touch in low cost 3D printed robotic and/or prosthetic hands.
Main value points of this project are:
- low cost tactile perception added to low cost 3D printed prosthetic robotics hands, enabling the final user to feel when fingers are in touch with the environment
- no invasive procedures needed for the end users
- a new model of low cost 3D Printed artificial hand to host the new tactile features
- all the electronics inside are composed by commercial cheap components
- several areas are identified to further research and improve our prototype
